Asylum Seekers..
They come by boat, unexpected and most of the time unwelcome, and they just expect to be given refugee status. What about the poor people that spend months waiting for a Visa? It's very unfair for those people, they spend lots of time waiting, hoping that they get granted refugee status.
And when they see that people are coming by boat and they are getting refugee status they assume that travelling by boat is the best way to come to Australia! When its not because now they will get sent to Papa New Guinea.
Katie, thanks for your reflection on asylum seeker policy, you have a good understanding of some of the issues. It is a challenging debate. What do you think would drive a person to come to Australia by boat? Ms Lidgerwood
ReplyDeleteThey would of had issues back home that was a life or death situation that changed the perspective on life and they would of heard from people that there was a better life in Australia and they probably don't want to go through the complications with the Visa's and the laws...
